How creators earn on Phantom

Every claim we make in outreach should be verifiable from public pages only. Here’s exactly how we compute creator revenue, the fee we keep, and what it covers.

1. The formula
Three variables. That's it.
monthly_revenue = subscribers × tier_price × (1 − platform_fee)
  • subscribers — the count shown on /c/[slug]. Visitors can read it off any creator’s public page.
  • tier_price— the creator’s subscription price (per month, USD). Today Phantom ships one default tier; we display whatever tier a creator has set.
  • platform_fee — the single rate we charge. Currently 5% (500 bps) on every successful subscription. We charge it server-side; the proxy returns it on each checkout session and this page is driven off the same constant.
2. Worked examples
Realistic ranges. Math you can re-run on paper.
SubscribersTier price / moMonthly revenue to creator
50$9.00$427.50
250$9.00$2,137.50
500$15.00$7,125.00
1,000$15.00$14,250.00

Computed at the current platform fee (5%). Numbers round to the cent; multiply subscribers × tier price × (1 − platform_fee) yourself to verify.

3. Verify it yourself
Every input lives on public pages.

Open any creator profile at /c/[slug]— the subscriber count is rendered on their profile card, and the creator’s tier price is shown in the subscribe dock. Punch those two numbers into the formula above and you’ll reproduce the row you’d see in the worked-examples table. If a future creator sets a different tier price, the formula still holds; only the inputs change.

4. What the platform fee covers
Honest bullets. What the fee pays for, nothing more.
  • Stripe processing. Card-network and processor fees on every successful subscription.
  • Hosting.Post delivery infrastructure (delivery is free to subscribers — we don’t bill them separately).
  • AI compose credits. The compose flow in the studio uses a small per-post inference quota against our AI proxy.
  • Payout infrastructure. Stripe Connect account maintenance and payout transfers to creator bank accounts.

That’s it. No listing fees, no takedown fees, no rank-promotion fees, no subscriptions to a separate “Pro” tier.
